Repeat Offender Sin City Most Prolific Criminal and the Cop Who Caught Him eBook Bradley Nickell Warren Jamison
Nickell somehow managed to create an entirely unique tome in the True Crime genre here with Repeat Offender. Completely off script, Nickell takes us into the world of cops, criminals, the criminal justice system, and victims in refreshingly vibrant and compelling ways. Here, you get it all: Victims, criminals, heroes and heroines, and tragedy and redemption. It is a true story and reads like one, and yet, Nickell takes you so deep that you'll not be able to put it down. I read it in one rainy day.The decision to do the right thing comes from surprising people with nothing to gain, and you'll find yourself rooting hard for one of the criminals as the story progresses - I thought this was the most heart warming part of the book, the story of Tammy - and Nickell doesn't disappoint you with her journey.
That Nickell himself is the chief protagonist is not at all distracting, nor self serving. He spends no time dwelling on himself or his family, but rather keeps you moving through the biggest case of his career, with a supporting cast of prosecutors, judges, jailers, cops, and others that make you feel as if you got to shadow all of them through this stunning - and disturbing - case.
You can read the book description for the story line - you don't need me to repeat it here. That said, you are in for quite a ride as Nickell takes you not only on a fascinating trip through the criminal justice system, but lets you take a long, slow look at the mind of a committed criminal, one that stood Las Vegas on its head with the audacity of his crimes. Indeed, Daimon Monroe is the kind of person society can't wait to slam a cell door on, yet Nickell, for all he endured, still offers a compassionate look at what prisons really are, which is atypical for a cop dedicated to putting people there.
The story, the characters, the crime and punishment, all of it is there for the crime story lover. Also making a prominent appearance throughout the book is humanity, in all its flawed and hope filled essence. It is the kind of book that will make you think. It challenges the "throwaway" mentality while simultaneously making the case for long sentences. Some people warrant prison with no chance to see the light of day again, whether we like it or not, and Nickell seems to struggle with that a little while still hoping that Monroe gets the proverbial book thrown at him for each and every crime. He also shows you a better side of even bad people than you imagine they have. No easy feat.
This is a story about people as much as it is about crime. This is not the sensationalist, tabloid kind of crime story that is all too prevalent these days. Rather, it is the story of human beings. For as much as I hoped for Monroe to be held accountable, I more rooted for Tammy and her children to find their way.
I won't spoil it for you. Buy this, and read it for yourself.
You won't be disappointed, I promise.

Repeat Offender Sin City Most Prolific Criminal and the Cop Who Caught Him eBook Bradley Nickell Warren Jamison Reviews
For a reader, there is nothing more enjoyable then not being able to put a book down. Start reading this book and you'll likely find yourself in that situation.
As this is a true story about a criminal ( a thief! gah!), I believe readers will find this book as easy to understand and as accessible as any true crime fan would. The reader travels along the story step by step with the detective, through the criminal's background, his crimes, and ultimate prosecutions. All is explained in a relaxed, conversational style. I genuinely felt as if I was having a cup of coffee with Detective Nickell and listening to a great war story.
Detective Nickell told this story with a lot of humility. To credit others so much for the work they put into prosecuting this sorry individual, he barely gives himself credit for the hours and hours of work he obviously put into this case. There is no "show boating". As we read along, he states the work he did matter-of-factly, then moves on. Amazing for the enormous amount of time he worked on this case, over several years.
I know very little about the law. When the story gets to the court system, I was able to understand all that was happening as it unfolded who said what and why. Unbelievably I never found myself saying "Wuh? What happened? What does that mean?". Anybody can read this and comprehend it. For me, this is part of what made the book so enjoyable.
Give this book a read. I'm confident you won't be disappointed. And a hint to the author a book with short stories of other interesting experiences during your career would be a project that you may want to put on your "to do" list...
This is a fascinating story! Stolen freezers full of purloined meat and cheese, cabinets full of ill-gotten shampoo and conditioner, storage units packed with everything imaginable, a home stuffed with rare collectibles, so many valuable paintings on the walls that there's just no more space. . . if you've never really considered what professional burglars do on a daily basis, this is a riveting read. Particularly interesting was the practice of hand-crafting purpose-made tools capable of defeating locks at businesses without inflicting any visible damage, making it difficult to tell whether a break-in had ever really taken place. Deliberately setting off alarms to create a "Boy Who Cried Wolf" situation where alarms are so frequent and apparently going off mistakenly that they become low-priority and nobody really pays attention. . . then, of course, when it's real, response is delayed/lukewarm. Cash taken during burglaries and stuffed into oven mitts in the kitchen until time to deposit it all at the bank. . .whew. This book is certainly a revelation, and the cat and mouse game between criminals and law enforcement makes for a truly absorbing tale.
This book is a story of a habitual criminal that is classified as a Repeat Offender. Bradley Nickels a detective in the ROP in Las Vegas for 15 years takes you through the story of Daimon Monroe and his accomplices. It seems as many times that Diamon has been arrested. He can't stop. It sounds as if it's a high they get in committing these crimes as a drug addict gets in obtaining drugs. This is a true story and true accounts of the dedication and hard work the, ROP (Repeat Offender Program) the police department. The swat team, the justice system in bringing down these criminals and taking them off the street. Enjoyed this book immensely.
